A New Land
‘Twas a cold winter’s day when me Pa said to me:
“We’re movin’ away from here
’Cause I found better pay in a place far away
And the day that we shove off draws near.”
Well, his words, they took the wind out of me sails.
It’s hard when yer just a young lad.
I’d be missin’ friend’s faces and me favorite places
and the only home I’d ever had.
CHORUS: Yo ho ho, well there she be.
There’s a new land before us, waitin’ for me.
Shiver me timbers, there’s treasure of a kind I never would find
if I stayed behind.
There soon came a day when Pa said, “Anchors away!”
but first I turned to me friends.
With a tear in me eye I told them goodbye
and I wondered, “Could this really be the end?”
We cast off and rolled on our long lonely way.
‘Twas a whale of a voyage we made.
Me Pa told me then, “There’s a bounty of new friends just awaitin’ ye
So don’t be afraid.”
CHORUS
The years floated by like the gulls in the sky
and me fears washed away like the sand.
‘Cause wherever ye roam, ye can always find a home
and there be treasure in the friends that you land.
CHORUS
